Metro Tunnel Brings John Holland to Town

14 December 2016

John Holland, which has won the contract to deliver the $324 million early works package for Victoria's biggest public transport project, Melbourne Metro Tunnel, has leased more than 3,000 square metres in Melbourne’s CBD and Carlton.

In the latest deal negotiated by Savills Directors Office Leasing, Phillip Cullity and Mark Rasmussen, John Holland has agreed terms on a new short term lease over a whole floor of 1,600 square metres on level 12 at GPT Group’s 8 Exhibition Street tower. The rental was not disclosed.

Mr Cullity said the major engineering contractor would take up the space immediately to house the project team involved in the $11 billion project.

He said the deal was one of several new confidential office leases associated with Melbourne Metro and various other infrastructure projects that had contributed to a spike in CBD leasing activity over the last 12 months.

Major works on the tunnel are expected to commence in 2017.
