Chipmunks Squirrel Away 10yr Dandenong Deal

10 December 2015

Chipmunks Playland & Café group has agreed terms on the lease of a new facility at Dandenong in Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs in a deal brokered by Savills Australia with CBRE.

The 55-67 Frankston/Dandenong Road property, the Group’s second Melbourne site, comprises a 948 square metre facility within Centennial Property group’s Home Quarter development.

According to Savills Associate Director, Keith Kooloos, who brokered the deal, the property was let on a ten year term. The rental was not disclosed.

Mr Kooloos said the New Zealand based tenant, which had another outlet at Roxburgh Park and several sites in other states, had required a site which offered excellent main street exposure.

He said the property was also strategically positioned at the entry to the Berwick / Narre Warren and Cranbourne growth areas which will see continual growth with a high volume of young families.

“The location close to the intersection with the Dandenong Bypass provided exceptional exposure while the existence of high profile neighbours in the Good Guys, Fantastic Furniture, and Officeworks, as well as the property’s prominence within the strip, were also important considerations,” Mr Kooloos said.

Chipmunks is an internationally trademarked brand with franchise operations originating in Port Chalmers, New Zealand. From its inception in 1996 the business has grown to 15 franchisee play centres in New Zealand, 11 in Australia and seven in Indonesia.
