Cassiday Schade Signs 50,000-SF Lease at the Franklin Through Savills Studley

13 December 2016

CHICAGO – (December 13, 2016) – Savills Studley, the leading commercial real estate services firm specializing in tenant representation, announced today that it has arranged an approximately 50,000-square-foot lease for Cassiday Schade LLP at the Franklin in Chicago’s West Loop.

Cassiday Schade will relocate its office from 20 North Wacker to the Class A tower at 222 West Adams Street after the current tenant, William Blair & Co, vacates. Cassiday will move in first quarter of 2018 and occupy the 28th through 29th floors; with options to take additional space on the 30th.

Established in 1979, Cassidy Schade is one of the most active litigation defense law firms in the Midwest. The law firm currently has more than 100 attorneys in seven offices nationwide, with experience in all areas of civil litigation. The firm’s clients include manufacturers, retailers, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, major oil companies, construction companies and insurers.

Savills Studley Executive Vice President John Goodman, Executive Vice President and Central Region Lead Rick Schuham and Chicago Co-Head and Senior Vice President Eric Feinberg represented the tenant in this long-term transaction. The new space will allow Cassiday Schade to grow its presence in downtown Chicago and attract top talent.

“The Franklin is the perfect balance of quality, location and amenities, especially for law firms,” said Goodman, noting that the leasing transaction follows the ongoing $30 million renovation program at the property, which is expected to be completed this year. The building features a modernized lobby and exterior arcade, concierge services, conference facilities, a full-service fitness center and multiple dining options. “This is a Class A property that aligns with the firm’s image and corporate culture.”

Following an extensive site search and negotiations with the landlord, Savills Studley was able to secure an agreement at 222 West Adams Street on behalf of Cassiday Schade that offers not only improved quality and space efficiency, but a lower overall occupancy cost than the firm’s previous office.

The landlord brokers in the transaction were Ellen May and Greg Tait of Tishman Speyer.
