Savills Project Manager Celebrates 75th Birthday Onsite

At Savills our philosophy is to value diversity and inclusion in the way we work, and how we do business. It is with this in mind that we are delighted to celebrate with our colleague Darryl Hennig in reaching a significant milestone. Not only does Mr Hennig turn 75 this week, he will also be celebrating more than 50 years in the property industry.

At an age where most would be putting their feet up, the accomplished Project Manager is showing no signs of slowing down while he continues working as an Independent Certifier on one of Savills flagship projects, 480 Queen Street, in the Brisbane CBD.

Mr Hennig commenced work as a Project Manager with Incoll TPC in 2000, a role which later led to the beginning of his career at Savills, with Incoll TPC amalgamating into Savills in 2002. During his time at Savills, he has worked as a client-side Project Manager on a diverse range of projects such as: the Macadamia Factory extension in northern NSW; the International Buddhist Association of Queensland Buddhist temple at Priestdale; the BreakFree Grand Pacific resort in Caloundra; and a number of projects for Watabe Wedding Corporation including AVICA Weddings and Resort on the Gold Coast, and wedding facilities in Hawaii.

Savills Managing Director of Project Management, Gary Finnegan said Mr Hennig is an exceptional Project Management professional and ambassador for Savills.

“The passion Darryl brings to his job is a pleasure to witness and with over 50 years of experience in the construction industry, he brings an immense wealth of knowledge to both our clients and staff.

“He is always eager and willing to pass on his traditional best practice project management knowledge to his fellow staff through coaching and mentorship and we have all learned a thing or two from Darryl over the years. You can read a thousand books on how to be a good project manager and nothing can replace the personal touch and expertise that Darryl brings to our people,” said Mr Finnegan.

Grocon Project General Manager for 480 Queen Street, Matt Leyshon, said Grocon has had a wonderful working relationship with Darryl over the last three-plus years while he has worked on the 480 Queen Street project.

“Darryl always brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and a common sense approach to his Independent Certifier role,” Mr Leyshon said.

“At a personal level, I have thoroughly enjoyed my interactions with Darryl. He has been a highly valued, extremely personable, key element of the 480 Queen Street success.”

At Savills, we pride ourselves on a culture that values diversity and inclusion and employing the best and most talented people. Our people stay with us, work together and know how to get results for our clients.
