23 November 2015

International real estate advisor Savills has appointed Marc López as Director of Capital Markets in its Barcelona office in order to support the company’s current investment advisory team in Madrid, and expand its expertise across Spain.

Marc López, Civil Engineer and MSc at MIT, has over 11 years of experience in the industry, holding different executive positions at Hines and the real estate branches of spanish commercial banks BMN and Banco Sabadell in their operations, marketing and investment advisory teams.

Arturo Díaz, Head of Savills Barcelona, comments, “Having only recently opened our office in Barcelona, we are very pleased to have Marc on board to help drive forward the business in this dynamic city. Barcelona is attracting increasing volumes of cross border investment and Marc’s extensive knowledge of the local market will allow us to strengthen our capital markets team both domestically in Spain and throughout Savills’ international network.”

Savills research reported that 65% of the volume of investment transacted in the Barcelona market in the first three quarters of this year was through cross border activity . Comparatively, in Madrid cross border investment in the office market represented just 31% of the total volume.

Marc López, Director of Capital Markets at Savills Barcelona, adds, “With the economy in Spain showing a marked return to form, Barcelona is very much on everyone’s radar. This is a really great moment to join the Savills team here and I look forward to working for a brand with such strong global recognition.”

Savills Barcelona also offers wider investment consultancy and asset management services; including valuations and project management, under Joan Gutés; and property management and office agency, led by Marie Laure Fenet.
