Savills Studley’s Ryan Miller Earns 40 Under 40 Recognition

29 August 2017

Savills Studley, the leading commercial real estate firm specializing in tenant representation, today announced that Managing Director Ryan Miller has been recognized by Baltimore Business Journal as a 2017 40 Under 40 honoree.

“I’m humbled and honored to be named one of Baltimore Business Journal’s 2017 class of 40 Under 40 honorees,” said Miller. “Being included with such accomplished and established business professionals across many industries is motivation to continue to build my career and make a difference in the community.”

The Journal annually identifies the top 40 individuals in Greater Baltimore who are innovators, professionals and entrepreneurs making strides in their respective fields before the age of 40. To be considered, the honorees are nominated by community members who believe the candidate is worthy of the award. This year, Baltimore Business Journal received 450 nominations to select the best in the industry—from real estate to education and more. The publication will celebrate the new class with a feature in an upcoming issue and a reception event on Thursday, November 16, 2017.

“In the world of commercial real estate, youth is a substantial obstacle as it is extremely difficult to overcome longstanding existing relationships with competitors as well as experience and reputation,” said Art Jacoby, principal at JACOBY and founder and chairman of Cybersecurity Association of Maryland. “Undeterred and wise beyond his years, Ryan ignores the obstacles and approaches building his client portfolio strategically. He is well on his way to becoming one of the top commercial real estate agents as well as building an exceptional track record of community giving.” Jacoby was one of three who nominated Miller for the award.

Miller is a tenant representation advocate specializing in prospecting and business development in the firm’s Baltimore office. In addition to securing new clients, he also contributes to comprehensive analyses, due diligence and competitive processes and lease negotiations. Most recently, Miller and his partner George Santos, senior managing director, closed a 27,862-square-foot lease for RMF Engineering and arranged a $1.9 million sale for Poverni Sheikh Group. Miller’s rising brokerage production has annually been greater than other brokers in his age bracket. He, along with two other Savills Studley brokers, cofounded a national internal networking group for other rising stars within the company to share best practices and ideas. The team now includes individuals from more than 15 offices across the country.

“As one of the top innovation and trend columnists with Inc. Magazine and Forbes, it’s my job to be ahead of the curve and that absolutely applies to people as well,” said Tom Popomaronis, journalist and former 40 Under 40 honoree who also submitted Miller for the recognition. “I look for true rising stars who have an innovative mind, a great ethos and live a ‘pay-it-forward’ mentality without the expectation of receiving anything in return. Ryan embodies these characteristics, and with his continued community leadership, Baltimore is in great hands, which is more important now than ever.”

Miller, a Baltimore native, is an active member of his personal and professional communities. He currently serves on the Fort Meade Alliance Membership and Rising Star committees and the Junior Achievement of Central Maryland Associate Council. Miller also volunteers as an assistant basketball coach at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Baltimore. He has given time and material donations to organizations like Chesapeake Regional Tech Council and GovConnects. In 2016, Miller was recognized as a Rising Star by Living Classrooms Foundation for his professional achievements and philanthropic efforts. He earned a bachelor’s in business management from the prestigious Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Savills Studley launched its Baltimore office in 2015, expanding the firm’s footprint in the Mid-Atlantic region. The office delivers sophisticated real estate advisory and transaction services to the area’s top tenants, including government, non-profit, education, healthcare, legal, technology, financial and industrial users. Since opening, the Baltimore location has developed a track record of achievement and creative problem-solving for clients of all sizes and across all industries.
